Man fighting for his life after Sunderland stabbing

A MAN is fighting for his life after a stab attack in Sunderland this morning.

Police were called to Purley Road, Plains Farm after reports of a man suffering a a serious stab wound to his leg.

The 53-year-old was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment where he remains. His injuries are described as life threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Sunderland.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident. All are being questioned by police as enquiries continue.

Superintendent Jim Napier, from Sunderland Area Command, said: “We have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to residents. I’d ask anyone with concerns to speak to them.

“Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. We would urge anyone with information or any witnesses to come forward as their information could be vital to assist with enquiries.”
