Police are investigating after a man died following an assault in Kelloe

A man has died after being attacked in a County Durham village this afternoon.

Police were called to Front Street, Kelloe, shortly after 2pm, after a report that the man, believed to be local and in his early 30s, had been stabbed.

He was taken to the James Cook Memorial Hospital in Middlesbrough where he died a short time later.

Police remain in the Kelloe area as they tryto trace a man believed to have been involved in the incident.
