Man cleared of ‘fake doctor’ groping in Sunderland pub

A MAN accused of posing as a doctor so he could grope a woman in a pub has been cleared.

Kevin Ashton Taylor denied sexually assaulting a woman in Sunderland on May 15 last year.

The woman appeared at Newcastle Crown Court to give evidence during a trial.

She said that Ashton-Taylor had introduced himself as Doctor Jarrell and said he might be able to help her with a medical condition. The 52-year-old denied the claims when he gave evidence from the witness box.

He said: “I didn’t touch her at all.”

Ashton-Taylor said the accusation he had claimed to be a medic was “made up” by the woman.
