A MAN accused of stabbing someone with a screwdriver has been remanded in custody.
Gary Brennan, 29, was charged with wounding with intent to cause GBH and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a screwdriver.
Kevin Scollan, 52, from Sunderland, had to be airlifted to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital after suffering head, hand and chest injuries during an attack at Reginald Street, Boldon Colliery at about 4.30pm on Saturday. He remains at the hospital for treatment, where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Brennan, of Glaisdale Court, Simonside, South Shields, entered no pleas during the hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
The case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court, where he will appear on August 18.
Brennan was remanded in custody until then.
