Toward Road, Sunderland

A MAN was due to appear in court this morning charged with robbery.

Just after 8.50pm on Friday, a 42-year-old was assaulted at a home in Toward Road, Hendon, Sunderland, leaving him with face and hand injuries.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment but has since been released.

The attacker made off from the property with a laptop computer.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s no surprise at all, everyone’s always robbing everyone else round here.

“You just keep your head down and have nothing to do with it. It’s all you can do.”

A woman added: “It’s terrible, but there are some not nice people around here.”

Liam Rolfe, 21, of Toward Road in Sunderland, has been charged with robbery and assault.

He was due to appear at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court today.
