Man charged after drinker’s jaw broken in Sunderland pub

A MAN has been charged after an brutal assault in a Sunderland pub.

A 28-year-old man suffered a broken jaw after being assaulted in the Lambton Worm pub in Low Row, Sunderland city centre.

The incident happened at about 7.45pm on Saturday. Two men aged 25 and 49 were arrested on suspicion of assault.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and appeared at Sunderland Magistrates Court on Monday, January 6.

A 49-year-old man was given a simple caution.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and would urge anyone who witnessed the assault to contact them on 101 ext 69191 or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
