Man arrested after suspected arson attack on Sunderland home

POLICE are appealing for information after a fire in Sunderland.

The fire was reported at 2.35am this morning, Wednesday April 9, at an address in The Elms West in the city centre.

Minor damage was caused to a room inside the property, nobody was injured.

It’s believed the fire was started deliberately and police are treating it as arson.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and is in police custody.
