Man, 20, arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after car crash outside Houghton takeaway

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences following a car crash outside a Houghton takeaway shop.

Just after midnight last Thursday morning, September 24, police were called to a takeaway in Newbottle Street to reports that a man had been involved in a collision.

Officers attended and found a large quality of what is suspected to be cannabis in the vehicle.

The 20-year-old driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possesion of a class B drug with intent to supply.

He has since been released from custody but officers are still carrying out inquiries and have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
