A JEALOUS boyfriend armed himself with a screwdriver and burst into a family home looking for a love rival.

Stephen Rose, 28, wanted to confront his friend Callum Wilson, whom he believed had started a relationship with his ex.

Newcastle Crown Court heard how people in the house calmed Rose down before any harm was done. Rose, of Broomfield Drive, East Rainton, admitted affray on the basis he was “very upset” to find out his long-term ex was seeing his friend.

Rose was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with supervision, 160 hours unpaid work and £750 costs.
