AN East Durham primary school has been told it needs to do better by education bosses.
Ofsted inspectors said Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Primary School in Horden requires improvements overall.
But, in their report into the Thorpe Road school, they said behaviour and safety of pupils is good, as is the leadership and management of the primary. Inspectors said work in lessons is not always well matched to the level at which individual pupils are working, and sometimes teachers do not give clear advice on how to improve when marking work.
However, the education bosses did say pupils’ progress is becoming more rapid.
They said: “Behaviour is good and has improved significantly in the past two years. As a result, pupils feel extremely safe in school. Their attendance has improved.
“The school offers pupils an exciting curriculum and many interesting opportunities to promote their well-developed spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness. “The excellent leadership of the headteacher has inspired new leaders of subject development teams.”
