A CONVICTED rapist appeared in court accused of making threats to kill a prison officer.
Youssef Abouri is alleged to have made the threat about a warder to a fellow inmate at Frankland Prison in Durham.
Abouri, 55, is serving a 42-month sentence in Frankland after being convicted of rape at Blackfriars Crown Court in London.
He appeared before Durham Crown Court on Christmas Eve via a video link.
During the short preliminary hearing, Abouri asked for an interpreter who speaks Arabic to be present on the next occasion. He said: “My English is broken.”
Judge Christopher Prince set a hearing for February 25 when Abouri is expected to enter a plea.
The judge remanded him in custody.
