DETECTIVES are making a fresh appeal for information after a 62-year-old was sexually assaulted at a bus stop.
The woman was walking back from the city centre when she was grabbed by a man as she walked past a bus shelter at Trimdon Street, which runs parallel to Alliance Place.
The victim suffered facial injuries and was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where she received treatment.
After Thursday evening’s attack, at about 5.50pm, officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in the area and stepped up patrols to reassure residents.
Officers today said “inquiries are ongoing” and are urging anyone with information to come forward to help them trace the attacker.
The man is described as about 6ft tall, aged between 25 and 30. He had short brown hair.
