Hunt for Metro CCTV thief

CCTV after suitcase stolen

CCTV after suitcase stolen

NEW CCTV footage has been released after a 73-year-old woman had her suitcase stolen from Sunderland station.

British Transport Police appealed for information on the theft, which took place on Monday, December 17, and have now released more images of a man they want to trace.

The victim, who is from Sunderland, was waiting on the platform to catch a train to London at about 9.30am. She asked a couple to keep an eye on her suitcase while she used the toilet. But the couple’s train arrived and the suitcase – which contained the pensioner’s medication – was left on the platform.

Police believe the suitcase was taken by a man who then boarded a Metro train to Millfield. Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting B3/NEA of 02/01/2013, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
