POLICE are investigating an arson attack which damaged three vehicles in a Sunderland street.
Officers are appealing for information after arsonists struck at The Cedars, in Ashbrooke.
A van was set alight, before the fire spread to a Volvo four-wheel drive car and a Mercedes C180 which were on trailers next to it.
The blaze came only days after a similar incident.
Firefighters from Sunderland East station, in Millfield, were called to deal with the latest blaze.
Crew manager Chris Usher said: “The fire has spread from the van to the other cars as they were all parked very close to each other.
“This was clearly malicious ignition.”
A similar incident also happened in the same place the previous week.
“I believe the Volvo had already been set alight the week before,” added Mr Usher.
Police are investigating the fire.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “At 8.20pm on Wednesday police received a report of a number of cars set on fire in The Cedars, in Ashbrooke.
“It’s believed the fires were started deliberately and officers are carrying out inquiries.”
Anyone with information about the fire should call the force on the 101 extension 69191, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The incident comes after a spate of car fires in Sunderland in recent months.
A number of cars were set fire to in Grindon over a weekend in October, with vehicles in Farringdon targeted days later.
