Hunt continues for armed robber after raid on Sunderland shop

A STUDENT has spoken of his shock as a man burst into his parents’ shop and robbed him at knifepoint.

The 20-year-old was helping out in Shah’s Stores in Fordland Place on Sunday when the robbery happened at about 4.20pm

One of two men, who had been hanging around the store for about 10 minutes, went inside with a knife and demanded cash, which was handed over.

He then made off down Hylton Road towards the Ford Estate.

The shaken Sunderland University student, who did not want to be named, said: “I was scared and shocked. It still hasn’t sunk in.”

The main suspect is described as white, about 5ft 10ins tall, and average build. He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up and covering his face, and grey jogging bottoms.

The second man is described as white and was wearing a yellow, blue and red jacket.
