A PENSIONER had her purse snatched after being shoved to the ground by a thief.
The victim, who is 80-years-old, was in John Street, in Sunderland city centre, when the attack happened.
She suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics who arrived at the scene.
Although she was shaken by the ordeal, she did not need to be taken to hospital.
A 23-year-old man arrested by police is currently helping officers with their inquiries.
Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses to the theft and want to hear from anyone who was in the area between 11am and 11.10am on Tuesday.
