A DRUNK man was arrested after swearing at police.
Thomas Allen was part of a group in Hendon, Sunderland, who became abusive when officers spoke to them at about 1.20am on December 22.
Paul Anderson, prosecuting, told Sunderland Magistrates’ Court that the 28-year-old had been given numerous warnings about his swearing.
Tom Morgan, defending, said Allen, of Halstead Square, had managed to control his drinking.
He said: “He has got a handle on his drinking, though I appreciate he was drunk on this occasion.
“He is not someone who is drinking to excess and he is not someone who is committing the sort of offences he was committing previously.”
Mr Morgan added that Allen was undergoing treatment for shoulder injuries.
“These are from what I suspect were fairly robust arrests by police.”
District Judge Helen Cousins fined Allen £25 and ordered he pay £85 court costs.
