He was reported missing in the early hours of Monday morning.

He is believed to have watched the match at The Swan pub in Heworth and police are checking CCTV and carrying out searches in the area in an effort to find him.

Superintendent Scott Hall said: “Mr Pine’s family are desperate to hear from him.

“This is distressing at any time of year but over the Christmas period it is particularly difficult.

“If anyone has any information about where Mr Pine is, if they saw him after the match on Sunday or think they may have seen him since, we want to hear from them.

“No matter how small or insignificant the information may appear it could be vital in piecing together Mr Pine’s movement and helping us to find him.

“It’s now been almost a week since Mr Pine was last seen and we’re extremely concerned for his welfare.

“If anyone was in The Swan on Sunday and has not yet spoken to us we would also ask them to get in contact.”

Mr Pine is described as 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build, and when last seen he was wearing a black fleece, navy blue t-shirt, blue jeans and black walking boots.

Anyone who sees him or who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 189 22/12/14.
