Ex-boyfriend smashed into woman’s flat searching for another man

A MAN harassed his ex-girlfriend and forced his way into her home.

The woman ended her six-month relationship with Ryan Jackson a month before he smashed his way into the flat.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.

Sarah Guest, prosecuting, said Jackson was banging on windows and shouting outside before breaking in. Once inside Jackson, of Newcastle Road, Sunderland, began looking in her wardrobe, shouting “where is he?”.

He then left the flat and was arrested outside by police.

Miss Guest said: “He rang his ex-girlfriend for a chat, but became suspicious that someone was with her and went to see her.

“He hung round for a couple of hours, then punched the window through.” Chris Wilson, defending, said: “It was a momentary lapse of judgement and the decision to break the window was completely out of character for him.”

Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered he give landlord Gentoo £122 to cover the costs of repairing the window. Jackson must also pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
