Drunken groper found guilty

A DRUNKEN man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in her own home.

Shaun Tinkler drank eight or 10 pints of beer before groping the woman and simulating sex with her, Durham Crown Court heard.

The 24-year-old, of Dudden Close, Peterlee, denied any wrongdoing, but was convicted of two charges of sexual assault by touching, aftertwo days of deliberations by the jury.

In three days of evidence, the jury heard Tinkler prised the woman’s mouth open before forcing a kiss on her.

She struggled free, but Tinkler followed her to the kitchen and simulated sex with her.

The woman told the jury Tinkler exposed himself.

Judge Penny Moreland adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service.

Tinkler was bailed to return to court on January 28.
