A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a street disturbance which left two parked cars and a police vehicle damaged.
Officers were called to Warrick Terrace, in Silksworth, just after 5am this morning after a report of a disturbance where a car window was smashed.
The group fled in a car hitting a police vehicle and was later discovered on nearby Tunstall Hope Road, after colliding with two other cars.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remained in custody today.
Peter Knox, 36, from Warrick Terrace, whose two-month-old Vauxhall Corsa was damaged, said families were disturbed at about 3am.
A blue Nissan Micra parked next to it was also damaged.
Mr Knox: “There was about four or five people fighting in the street. It was a quiet street. I’ve been living here for 30 years.
“It was a shock when I saw the car, I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t.
“The police have taken it away and I’m waiting to find out if it will be written off.”
Northumbria Police has asked anyone with information about the disorder to call 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 151 21/11/14 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 11
