DO not lose your chance to vote on who will hold the purse strings for fighting crime on Wearside.
That is the message to people ahead of the first Northumbria Police Crime and Commissioner election, to be held on Thursday, November 15.
People not yet registered to vote have until tomorrow. Dave Smith, Northumbria Police Area returning officer, said: “If residents are not on the electoral register and registered to vote, they will lose a chance to have their say.”
So far, more than one million people are registered to vote in the Northumbria Police area, including 216,445 in Sunderland and 115,365 in South Tyneside.
Electors can vote either in person at their allocated polling station on the day or by post. The result of the Northumbria vote will be declared at the Sunderland Tennis Centre on November 16.
Anyone not yet registered should contact their council’s electoral registration officer.
