HUNDREDS of fund-raisers will get in a flap when they take part in Sunderland’s third Turkey Trot.

The event, in aid of St Benedict’s Hospice, Monkwearmouth, will be held in Mowbray Park at 4pm on Saturday.

People of all ages will get dressed up as turkeys for the two-kilometre family fun run, which raised thousands of pounds for the hospice last year.

Sylvia Stoneham, hospice fund-raiser, said “This will be year three of our hilarious Turkey Trot.

“Following previous years’ successes, we’re looking for 400 turkeys this year, to make the event even bigger and better.

“Imagine trotting around Mowbray park with 399 other people of all ages, all dressed as turkeys.

“The event has a true family flavour with participants of all ages welcome.

“You can take part in memory of a loved one, as a family activity on the approach to Christmas, or just for the fun of doing something different.”

Prizes will be awarded for the best children’s costume and the ‘turkey’ who raises the most cash.

The adult registration fee is £20, which includes a guaranteed numbered entry place, sponsor form and turkey costume. Children’s registration is £5.

For a registration form or more details, text TROT to 81400 or ring St Benedict’s Hospice on 512 8436 or email fundraising@stbenedicts.co.uk
