Car stolen from pregnant woman

A HEAVILY-PREGNANT woman had her car stolen in a smash-and-grab raid.

The thief smashed the woman’s porch window, reached in and stole a set of car keys while his victim was in the house.

Her car – a blue Volkswagen Golf, registration KP62 EZT – was stolen from the drive.

The woman – who is more than seven months pregnant – was left shaken by the incident.

The offender is described as white, between 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall of stocky build, wearing all dark clothing and footwear. He had his face covered and the hood of his coat was up.

Police are appealing for information, anyone who witnessed the burglars or who knows the whereabouts of the stolen car is asked to get in touch with police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 1166 03/09/14, or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

The appeal comes during Northumbria Police’s Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling thieves and burglars across the force.
