A CAR was stolen after a burglary in Washington.

The burglary happened on Monday night at an address in Ovingham Close, in Columbia, Washington, when thieves took car keys and stole a white Volkswagen Scirocco Coupe - registration NK63 GZF.

Washington Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Stewart said: “We’re appealing for any witnesses to the burglary.

“If anyone saw anything suspicious or out of the ordinary around Ovingham Close overnight would ask them to speak to us.

“In particular we would like to trace the vehicle and would ask anyone who has seen it or has information about where it is to get in contact.

“It may be the burglars attempt to sell the vehicle, and I would ask second-hand car dealers to be vigilant - if anyone comes in offering to sell a similar vehicle we would ask them to ring us.”

Any witnesses should ring Northumbria Police on 101 ext 691961 quoting reference 169 120515 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
