ARSON is suspected after a car caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to Castletown Road in Sunderland at about 2am, after reports a Vauxhall Corsa was on fire.
A crew from Sunderland Central station put out the fire, which destroyed the car.
Police were called to the scene at 2.20am and are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Firefighters say “malicious ignition” is thought to be behind the fire.
