A CANNABIS user could be jailed after growing his own supply at home.
Police found a total of 53 plants when they raided Peter Dickinson’s property at Well Street, Millfield, Sunderland, in July last year.
Newcastle Crown Court heard the crop could have produced more than a kilo of the class B drug.
Andrew Finlay, defending, said: “These were his, grown for his personal use.”
Prosecutors do not accept Dickinson was growing the plants solely for himself but there is no evidence of any dealing.
Judge Jeremy Freedman adjourned the case for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and warned “all options” will be considered.
Dickinson pleaded guilty to producing a Class B drug at yesterday’s hearing.
