Burglars wreck Sunderland charity shop in cash and jewellery raid

BURGLARS smashed their way into a charity shop in Sunderland.

The raiders forced their way in through the roof causing a substantial amount of damage to the British Heart Foundation shop in Blandford Street.

The thieves stole a small amount of gold jewellery and cash in the incident, which overnight between 5pm on Friday, March 28, and 9.10am on Saturday, March 29.

Neighbourhood Inspector Mick Hall said: “These callous thieves not only stole from this charity but have caused a lot of damage to the shop when they forced their way in.

“We’re appealing for assistance from the community to help us find those responsible for this crime so we can put them before the courts.”

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
