Burglars strike at two Sunderland homes

POLICE are hunting burglars after two homes were raided in Sunderland.

Ornaments, alcohol and electrical equipment were taken from a house in Mortimer Street, Castletown

Jewellery, cash and electrical equipment were stolen from a house in Sevenoaks Drive, Hastingls Hill.

Both burglaries happened between January 9 and January 11.

An attempt was made to burgle a house in Shrewsbury Crescent, Barnes, between December 30 and January 11.

Extra police patrols are being made and residents are urged to be vigilant.

Neighbourhood Inspector Lisa Laverick said: “We are carrying out enquiries into these burglaries, and would ask anyone who saw suspicious activity around these areas to get in touch.

“It is important residents are vigilant, and make sure doors and windows are locked.

“Any suspicious activity late at night or people or vehicles in the area should be reported to police straight away.

“Extra patrols are taking place in the area to make enquiries and deter offenders.”
