A SERIAL pervert hid a schoolboy in his cupboard when police visited his home.
Durham Police were carrying out a routine visit to Adam Younger’s Horden home when they discovered the 12-year-old hiding in a cupboard, Durham Crown Court heard.
The three-times sex offender is banned from contacting boys as part of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (Sopo) received when he was jailed in 2009 for two sexual assaults on boys aged under 13 and downloading indecent images of mainly young boys.
As part of his order, officers from the Public Protection Unit make regular visits to see Younger, of Fifth Street.
On December 19, an officer called at his home but when he answered the door half-dressed she decided to search the house. When she went into the bedroom, she found a half-made bed and a cupboard locked from the outside.
Mark Styles, prosecuting, said: “On opening it she found a 12-year-old boy hiding inside.
“He was coaxed out and assured her he wasn’t in trouble.”
Younger fled his house and texted the boy telling him to “run” and to tell police he had only been there for 10 minutes. He was arrested later outside his grandmother’s house in Sunderland.
Younger admitted child abduction and two charges of breaching a Sopo. He was jailed for three years.
