BMWs stolen in burglaries

POLICE in Washington are appealing for information after two high-value cars were stolen in burglaries.

Between 11.30pm, on Thursday, May 29, and 7.15am, on Friday, May 30, offenders gained entry to an address on Breamish Drive, in Rickleton.

They stole keys to a dark grey BMW XDrive before making off in the vehicle. The stolen car’s registration is NL63 AOT.

At 10pm, on Friday, May 30, thieves made off with a BMW Estate, registration GF11 NHX, after taking the keys from inside an address at The Generals Wood, in Harraton.

Officers are investigating both burglaries and carrying out enquiries to trace the stolen cars. They are appealing for the public’s help.

If anyone spotted any suspicious activity around these addresses or spots the stolen vehicles they should contact police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log numbers 298 and 1368 30/05/14, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are carrying out extra patrols as part of the forcewide campaign Operation Soundwave cracking down on opportunist thieves.

People are asked to follow crime prevention advice on the Northumbria Police website, www.northumbria.police.uk, to avoid becoming a victim of crime, including burglary.
