A MOTORCYCLIST is being treated in hospital after he was in a collision with a car at West Rainton.
The 50-year-old man was thrown from his blue Yamaha 125cc bike as he was riding along the A690 on Monday night.
A silver Chevrolet Avea collided with the bike as the driver was attempting to cross on to the eastbound carriageway towards Sunderland, at the junction with Pittington Lane. The biker was taken to University Hospital North Durham where he was found to have suffered a suspected broken pelvis and fractures to both wrists.
The car driver, a 51-year-old man from High Pittington, was unhurt.
Any witnesses are asked to contact Durham police on 101, and ask for Pc Stuart Chaney.
