‘Bad samaritan’ stole woman’s cash as she fell over in Sunderland city centre

A WOMAN has lost an envelope full of cash after a crowd gathered to help her up when she fell over in the street.

The money went missing at 3pm on Monday when the woman tripped and fell in Chester Road.

As she went to the ground, she dropped the envelope outside John Ramsden’s shop.

A number of people helped her after she fell, and in the melee someone picked up the envelope and walked off with it.

Northumbria Police are asking anyone who was in Chester Road on Monday afternoon to contact them

Officers are carrying out enquiries and asking anyone who was in Chester Road on Monday afternoon to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 804 of 030314 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
