Arrest after man found with head injuries

A MAN suffered slashes to his head and arms in an attack which is being investigated by police.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was found at Park Lane Interchange in Sunderland city centre on Friday morning.

Officers discovered he had suffered injuries in an assault, which took place the night before in Hudson Road, Hendon.

The injured man is now being treated at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of unlawful wounding and bailed pending further enquiries.

A spokeswoman for Northumrbia Police said: “At 10.18am on Friday, September 20, police received a report that a man aged in his 40s at Park Lane in the city and was suffering from injuries.

“Following enquiries, it has been established that he was assaulted the previous evening at Hudson Road.”

Investigations into the assault are ongoing.
