CCTV footage from a town centre has been released in the bid to find a North East man.

Police from Scarborough town centre distributed the image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an assault.

It is believed he was part of a group of people who had travelled to Scarborough from the North East area, including Chester-le-Street and Newcastle, who were staying in the borough over the weekend of June 15 to 17.

The alleged attack took place in Scarborough town centre in the early hours of Saturday, June 16.

The CCTV image of the man was taken at the Sun Inn and officers would like anyone who can help identify him to contact them, or for the man himself to contact the police.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Rob Henderson at Scarborough CID on 01723 509471.

Or you can email DS Henderson at rob.henderson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestopperson on 0800 555 111 and pass on information anonymously.
