POLICE are appealing for information after three burglaries in an area of Sunderland.

In the last 10 days three houses in Howick Park have been targeted.

Sometime between Friday, August 1, and Monday, August 11, burglars broke into a house and stole two TVs before making off.

Then between 4pm and 6.15pm on Tuesday, August 5, thieves stole jewellery, a handbag and cash from another home.

Finally, at 1pm on Friday, August 8, a man then got into another address and searched the property before being disturbed. He fled empty handed.

Neighbourhood Inspector Tony Carty said: “We have had three incidents in the one area and enquiries are ongoing. I’d urge local residents to make sure their windows and doors are locked whenever they leave the house and to report any suspicious people or vehicles they see hanging around the area.”

Anyone with any information into the break-ins is asked to contact police in Sunderland on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 042733A/14, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The appeal comes during Northumbria Police’s Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling thieves and burglars across the force.
