A WOMAN drained her boyfriend’s bank account of cash while he was locked in a cell.

Durham Crown Court was told Leslie Holt was taken in to custody in the early hours of July 8, after a dispute with Joanne Iley at a house in Blackhall.

But while he was being dealt with by the police, and later released without action, Iley used his bank card to withdrawn all £130 in the account.

She was found on CCTV accessing a cash machine, after Mr Holt reported the theft.

The incident happened while Iley, who is no longer with Mr Holt, was serving an eight-month suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice.

Prosecutor Shaun Dodds said Iley, of Pentland Close, Peterlee, initially claimed she had permission to use the card.

She admitted fraud by false representation and the breach of sentence.

Anghared Davies, mitigating, said Iley had not been in trouble since that incident, and was willing to engage with the probation service.

Iley was given a 12-month community order with supervision, and ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work.
