The football Echo celebrates its 100th birthday next month. And we want you to get involved in the celebrations by creating a new Footy Man!
There's still time to enter – as the deadline is this Saturday, August 11. It's the ideal school holiday task for artistic children!
Our bouncy little character appears on the front page of the Football Echo every week during the season. He sports a wide smile and dances with delight every time Sunderland win, but tears are shed when the Lads suffer defeat!
The Footy Man has appeared in differing guises from the first day of the Football Echo – September 7, 1907 – a day when Sunderland beat Notts County 4-3.
Our current Footy Man has featured on our pages since 1990 ... and he'll need a break after the 100th birthday celebrations!
So, we want a new Man to take over for the coming season ... and we want you to draw him.
We're looking for drawings of our new man celebrating a victory – so get out your pens, pencils and crayons!
