A POLICE officer who sued his force over claims a defective squad car caused a major crash faces a delay to see if he has won his courtroom battle.
Pc Christopher Pearson, 38, pictured, who was based at Houghton Police Station, claims loose wheel nuts and a bald tyre made him lose control of his Northumbria Police vehicle.
Newcastle County Court heard both he and his passenger Pc Emma Wilkinson were injured in the 2006 smash and are still unable to return to front-line duties.
The crash happened in Front Street, South Hetton, in August 2006.
The officers were making their way back to the police station when they noticed a suspicious vehicle and started to follow.
It was after Pc Pearson negotiated a bend the car went off the road.
Northumbria Police deny liability.
After a two-day trial Judge Christopher Walton adjourned the proceedings.
His judgment will be given at a future date, which had yet to be set.
