A SCHOOLBOY who died in a car crash has been named.

Grant Davison, from The Hawthorns, East Boldon, was killed when the Land Rover Defender he was travelling in crashed into a wall.

The incident happened on the A66 near the Bowes Moor Hotel near Barnard Castle, on Friday night.

The 14-year-old, a pupil at The King’s School, Tynemouth, was sitting in the back of the 4x4 vehicle when the accident happened.

The 18-year-old male driver and a 47-year-old woman passenger, also from East Boldon, were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.

The driver was later released. The woman was treated for head and chest injuries, not thought to be life-threatening.
