DURHAM Cathedral’s Carol of Lights concert will get the royal seal of approval later this month.

The event, on December 8, will raise money for Sunderland football club’s SAFC Foundation.

The Countess of Wessex will attend in her role as the charity’s patron.

Produced by Black Cats fan Sir Tim Rice, the concert will feature performances from star names.

They include Joe McElderry, Barbara Dickson and Sir Thomas Allen.

Tickets are £15 and can be bought from the Sunderland ticket office or by calling 551 5004.
