A DOZEN horses have been seized after they were allowed to graze on public land without permission.

Their owners are being sought after Durham County Council impounded them following concerns over their safety and risk they posed to people.

They were removed from council land in Gilesgate, Easington and Wheatley Hill yesterday with the help of police.

Owners of the 12 horses are asked to email office@grcgroup.co.uk.

To report a horse left on public land, call the council on 03000 260 000 or email horses@durham.gov.uk.
