CONCERNS are mounting for a Sunderland pensioner who has failed to visit his favourite shops for four weeks.
Shopkeepers in North Allerton have raised concerns over the welfare of regular shopper Gerald Grey.
Mr Grey, who is thought to be in his 70s or 80s, travels every Wednesday without fail to the Yorkshire town to do his shopping on market day.
But for the last four weeks, he has not shown up at the usual shops he visits.
Gareth Bant, of gourmet food shop Lewis and Coopers, said: “He would come to us and other shops here every week without fail.
“Four weeks ago, he left the shop and said ‘see you at the same time next week’, and we’ve never seen him since.
“It might just be that he’s poorly or hasn’t been able to make it here for whatever reason, but there’s a few of us that are concerned.”
Mr Grey is asked to phone Dettina Bell on 01609 766 709.
