COMMUNITY groups in the North East have received £316,261 from the Big Lottery Fund’s latest awards.
The Youth Almighty Project in Sunderland, which delivers activities to children aged between eight and 12 who may be deterred from accessing the youth centre, has been given £7,689.
It will go towards table football, an air hockey table and trips to Adventure Valley and Sunderland Wall Climbing Centre.
Lumley Infant and Nursery School, in Chester-le-Street, has got £10,000 to buy laptops to be borrowed by children and their families to increase ICT, numeracy and literacy skills within the community.
Belmont Allotments Club, in Durham, has received £8,785 to install a rainwater harvesting system to provide a sustainable water supply for allotments and community gardens.
