RESIDENTS can have a chance to grab a slice of £50,000 council funding.
Councillors from the areas that covers the Doxford, Hendon, Millfield, St Michael’s and Ryhope wards, will be at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens between 11am and 2pm on Tuesday.
They sit on the council’s East Area Committee that has an annual budget of around £277,000, including £50,000 that goes towards popular community chest grants.
The grants are designed to help local groups and organisations such as football clubs, youth groups, and all community and cultural associations.
There are free family activities at the event, including arts and crafts, puzzles and quizzes.
The East Area Community event is on Tuesday. April 8, between 11am and 2pm at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens.
The committee meets on Monday from 5.30pm in Committee Room One at the Civic Centre.
