EMERGENCY services were called to help a “distressed woman” at a North East beauty spot.
Concern was raised for a 19-year-old woman after she was seen at the cliff ledge at Marsden Grotto.
Police attended the scene at about 6.45pm on Friday.
Officers spoke to the teenager in a bid to convince her to step away from the ledge.
They managed to talk her down by 7.30pm.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “At 6.42pm on Friday, April 6, police received a report of concern for safety of a woman stood on the wrong side of the barrier at the Marsden Grotto in South Tyneside.”
