The Northern Karate Association competition took place at Castleview Centre and was a great success. This was Emily Ward’s second competition representing Mortimer Karate Club. She walked away with a fourth place and two third place trophies. Instructor Rebecca, fellow students and Emily’s parents were over the moon with her achievement. Cleadon Village Drama Club, directed by Bill Dodd, is showing Simon Mawdsley’s acclaimed comedy thriller, Audacity, each night this week at the Little Theatre in Boldon Lane at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 and are available from the business manager on 4470493.

Soup and roll lunches are available today and every Tuesday in All Saints’ parish hall from 11.45am-1.15pm. There is homemade soup with a roll followed by tea or coffee with homemade cake, and plenty of friendly chat, all for £3. Come along and give it a try.

The PCC of All Saints’ Church meets tomorrow at 7.30pm in the Chapter House.

The Mothers’ Union of All Saints’ Church meets on Thursday at 2pm in the Chapter House. Last month the members listened to Margaret Wright, who spoke about how we should deal with anger, which proved to be very enjoyable. The group meets monthly and always welcomes new members. Why not come along.

This week, the Thursday Club meets in the Old Schoolroom on Thursday at 1.30pm. The members will be treated to An Old Fashioned Wash Day by speaker Colin Orr. The group is made up of retired people who enjoy socialising and anyone can join them.

On Friday there will be a lunch club in All Saints’ parish hall. Open to everyone, you can meet up at 11am for coffee and a get together, and then there is a delicious two-course lunch, followed by tea or coffee, all for £5. It is well worth a try. Married Couples will meet on Monday at 7.30pm in the Chapter House for their joint quiz with the Men’s Fellowship of All Saints’ Church. Last month the Married Couples group listened to speaker Margaret Wright speaking about her work as a Methodist Lay Preacher and a chaplain at St Clare’s Hospice, while the Men’s Fellowship listened to Peter Talbot speaking about an adventurous holiday on the west coast of Scotland.

The Adele Forrester School of Dance meets on Saturdays in All Saints’ parish hall. All kinds of dancing is taught for ages three to 18, and a Dinky Dancers class meets in Cleadon Methodist Church hall on Wednesdays at 10.30am for toddlers under three years.
