Members of Cleadon WI will be served afternoon tea at Beamish Hall on Wednesday, as part of the county’s celebration of the WI centenary.
On Thursday, the Pastoral Care Group is hosting an open evening in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, at 7.30pm. Brian Burnie, founder of the charity Daft as a Brush, will give an entertaining talk about the work of the charity which provides transport to and from hospital for out-patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy treatment. The talk is entitled War Baby to Daft as a Brush and everyone is welcome to go along.
On Saturday, the regular coffee morning, held in the community room on Front Street in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support Group, will be open from 10am until after noon. There are gift items and cakes on sale as well as a raffle. The welcome is always very warm.
Pastoral Care Sunday is on Sunday when prayers are offered in both churches for the community and for those in the network who care for the people in their area.
The Married Couples Group of All Saints’ Church meets on Monday at 7.30pm.
Cleadon Village History Society meets next Tuesday, September 22, at 7.15pm in the Old Schoolroom, next to the parish hall.
On Friday, September 25, the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Seaburn are holding a coffee morning in the Little Theatre in Boldon Lane from 10am to noon. The proceeds are in aid of Macmillan Nurses.
On Saturday, October 3, Cleadon Methodist Church is hosting a craft fair in the hall from 10am to 3pm. There will be food available all day, and the stalls will have a variety of goods which may possibly give you ideas for presents for the future.
Councillor Margaret Meling holds a weekly surgery on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 10am in the Community Room on Front Street. Everyone is welcome to go along.
