CHRISTMAS came early for one lucky little boy.

William Carson, from Barnes, jumped aboard Santa’s sleigh at the weekend after winning himself a seat in an Echo competition.

The three-year-old was guest of honour at Dalton Park’s festive parade on Saturday, which officially launched the centre’s countdown to Christmas, the biggest switch-on in the centre’s history with more than 12,000 people taking part in the festivities.

The Little Learners nursery pupil made pals with Santa’s reindeer as he waved to hundreds of visitors as the procession made its way through the shopping complex. Catherine Carson, 60, William’s grandma, said: “He loved every minute of it.

“I wasn’t sure how comfortable he’d be but he smiled and waved all the way through. I think he’s been a bit nervous of the reindeer though.”

The centre’s Christmas lights switch-on followed the parade, with fireworks also set off during the celebrations.
