A KIND-HEARTED cook gave old folk lunch with all the trimmings.

The elderly visitors to The Lunching Club were treated to a full Christmas dinner thanks to good-hearted Robert Burns and his company Continental Catering.

The 28-year-old carer and college student has been running the club, at Eastlea Community Centre, Seaham, for three years.

“It is so nice because the visitors come in and make friends,” he said.

“The Christmas lunch is nice for them because a lot of them are widowed and stuff, and it gets them out of the house to have a nice Christmas meal with friends.

“When they first start coming here they are quiet, but once they get talking they really come out of their shells and they all have a good time. They always say thank you after the meal.”
